FS1 Software Solutions

Confirm Drivers

Normally installing drivers and the ToolBox Editor will go smoothly, but in some instances the PC may be missing files or the drivers are not correctly installed. Below are a few 'solutions' that have been used.

If you are not able to connect to your meter, check to see that your drivers were installed correctly by reviewing your device manager.

  • Plug in the meter using the USB cable.
  • Open your 'Control Panel'
  • Open 'System'
  • Click the 'Hardware' tab
  • Click the 'Device Manager' button

Open 'Ports (COM & LPT)' and you should see 'Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)' showing the Com Port Number that was assigned.

Remember this Com port number to use with the FS1 ToolBox Editor.

If you do not see 'Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)' your drivers are not loaded to your PC.

7/20/10 (Advanced) - use this one if you are having problems installing the drivers and connecting to your meter. Instructions are included in the download.

7/20/10 (Advanced) Can't connect to your meter or can't load your meter? This is for you. Shows you how to solve most problems than prevent downloads to your meter.

8/17/10 (Advanced) Use to repair error message 'Run-time error 339: Component 'MSCOMM32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.'
NOTE: This is a PC problem. If you don't get this error message, there is no need to download this file.

10/16/12 (Advanced) Use to repair error message 'Run-Time Error 339: Component msflxgrd.OCX is Not Correctly Registered or File is Missing.'
NOTE: This is a PC problem. If you don't get this error message, there is no need to download this file.
This problem found by Derek Payne of Northern Ireland. Thanks Derek.

7/20/10 (Advanced) In some cases Visual Basic may be missing from your PC. If you get a error saying 'msflxgrd.ocx' is missing or is not registered you may solve this PC problem by installing MiniVB6.

After loading a new list my meter won't turn off

If you have loaded a incorrect or corrupted file your meter may show strange characters on the screen or your meter may not turn off (green light stays on).

Our meters have Bullet Proof software and can easily be restored to their original working condition by following the instructions below.

  1. First remove the ruff neck boot.
  2. Open the battery door and unplug your battery.
  3. Re-plug your battery. The meter should now be off.
(You may want to plug in your charger at this time.)
  4. Hold the Load/dB key of the meter and power on the meter to enter the engineering mode.
  5. Select the correct COM port and click Open.
  6. Click the 'Restore' button and wait for the loading process to finish.
  7. After it has finished your meter will again turn off.
  8. Turn your meter on and wait for it to boot, within 5 seconds after boot enter 9876 to reset the meter.

Your meter should now be restored to original condition.

Virus Scan Report

Depending on the anti-virus program you are using, you may get a false positive alert when scanning FS1 ToolBox Editor. Because of this, we had our software tested and you can see the report here.
